A Family Portrait Collection | Harkness Memorial State Park

If there is one word that best describes this fall, it would be community!  The power and support of my own community continues to blow me away.  The community of people who have come in and out of our lives at different parts whether it's where we grew up, went to school, mutual friends, or within our profession.  It's a common bond that connects us to each other, it truly is our family.

I was so excited when this sweet mother contacted me after 17 years!  Classmates in high school, oh my goodness, don't ask me how 17 years has passed so quickly, but here we were reconnecting after all these years and now she is an amazing wife and an incredible mother to two insanely adorable boys!

When we began planning their family session, I loved learning all about the years after high school.  How she and her loving husband met in Boston, their wedding day, how they always wanted a boy and knew exactly what they would name him, life, and all the amazing memories they are creating as a family of four. After we hung up the phone, the one thing that echoed in my mind from our conversation was how much she wanted to preserve this time for their family.  She wanted to make sure they had photographs for her boys to look back on generations from now, to remember.  We immediately connected on the meaningful importance and significance of these images.  Creating timeless photographs as family heirlooms, well my friends, in my eyes, THIS matters most!

Courtney and Greg had their wedding reception at the Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park in Waterford, CT.  It's where they go every year to take their family Christmas picture, it's their holiday family tradition,  So I am sure you can only imagine my reaction to photographing at a very special place of meaning for them AND being a part of their family tradition, eeekkk!

They walked around the property reminiscing and reliving their wedding day, sharing quick stories and special memories.  We finished up our session on the beach at sunset and it was a just perfect.  A beautiful night spent making new memories as a family to remember this time forever.  Yes please!!

Here are some of my favorites from their session!
