Day 1 Facebook Giveaway | Let The Celebrations Begin

I jumped out of bed so fast this morning to get the party started!  I can't contain my excitement over here!  The time has finally arrived to begin to celebrate so much of what my heart has been working on behind the scenes!  There is a ton to celebrate, going full-time with my photography business, re-branding my business name to Anne Miller, gearing up for the launch of my new website and YOU, my community who has been cheering me on throughout the years, I celebrate you!

There is no way I would ever want to celebrate by myself, what fun would that be?  Giving back and saying thank you is the best part!  I wouldn't be here today without you and I have been looking forward to doing something special leading up to my website launch day for a very long time!

As I thought about what I wanted to give away, I knew I wanted my giveaway surprises to hold special meaning or significance and center around the words I value so much, cherish, honor, and appreciate.

So let the celebrations begin!  The Giveaway schedule and details are outlined below.  But first, let me tell you what you can win today in the Day 1 Facebook Giveaway!

Day 1 Facebook Giveaway:

Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie
Lavender Sprig Aromatherapy room spray from Naturally Relaxed, LLC.

__________

These two gifts pair so beautifully together.  In my opinion, there is no better way to unwind at the end of a long day, after putting the kids to bed, returning from a trip, or working those crazy long days, than to spray this calming lavender aromatherapy for instant peace and relaxation.  Grab your Journey to the Heart book, a cup of hot tea, and enjoy a quick reading to refresh your mind before bed.  Yes, please!

I was first introduced to this book, Journey to the Heart a few years ago by my dear friend, Anita Barbero of  Renew Your Health.  She would read passages at the end of her Thursday morning Yoga class and I would always ask her if I could re-read it after class, knowing my heart needed the extra dose of inspiration and nurturing while I balanced both my hectic full-time day job and photography.  After she kindly photocopied several readings for me, I decided it was time to purchase my own copy so I could pull it out when I needed it the most. This book has been my saving grace through the chaos of pushing to become full-time and always helped bring my mind back to the present moment and tasks at hand.

This book "contains 365 insightful daily meditations that inspire readers to unlock their personal creativity and discover their divine purpose in life".  There was no question when planning my giveaways that this book would be one of the meaningful gifts and I am so excited to give it to someone!

Here is an excerpt from today's date I wanted to share.

April 21: Trust What You Know
"As you grow, as you evolve, as you continue on this journey, you'll discover many special abilities, gifts, and powers.  One is an increased sense of knowingness.  We will begin to understand events and people on a level much deeper than we experienced before.  Powers appear when we open the heart.  We find the powers of love, comfort, faith, joy.  There are other powers, too, that come along the way.  One of these is the quiet power of trusting what we know.  Open your heart.  Let it show you what it knows.  Learn to trust what you know.  You're wiser than you think."

The Lavender Sprig is one of my favorite scents, but they are all amazing!  Spray it around your house to clean the air or before bed, instant relaxation in a bottle.  This was another gift I couldn't wait to giveaway!

What's New & What's Changing | Hartford Connecticut Family Photographer

There is so much to catch up on from these past few months.  As you may have read earlier this week I shared the exciting news that I recently left my full-time job in television production after 13 years to devote my full attention and care into running my photography business full-time!

I am still so overwhelmed by everyone's sweet sentiments, thank you so much!  There may have been a few joyful tears (wink, wink).  I feel very blessed to have an incredible community and support system by my side.  And if you missed my big announcement this week, you can read about it HERE.

I am over the moon excited to finally be able to share with you all the projects I have been working hard on behind the scenes throughout this past year and over the winter months. What's New and What's Changing for Anne Marie Photography.  Drum roll please!!!!!

Re-branding my business to Anne Miller.

As my business grew and evolved, I began to feel that the name Anne Marie Photography wasn’t the best fit for my business and quite honestly created a lot of confusion for potential clients, fellow photographers, and vendors as so many naturally thought my first name was Anne-Marie. I always felt so bad correcting anyone or having to explain who I was when meeting new artists, almost having to introduce myself as "Anne Marie Miller" so they connected who I was with my work.  The confusion and disconnect that it created led me to start questioning where I saw my business growing as a portrait photographer and felt change was necessary.

This past August, I met with the incredibly talented and fabulous Tiffany Farley for a two day one-on-one mentoring workshop and we dug deep into everything branding and my business name was at the top of my list to discuss.  She suggested and agreed that changing my business name to Anne Miller reflected the simple and classic nature of my portrait work and we felt it best represented my brand.

What can you expect?
Be on the lookout for all of my social media accounts and my business email to change.

FACEBOOK:
Both my Facebook business page and personal page profile names will be changing to Anne Miller.

INSTAGRAM:
My current Instagram account profile name will be changing to @_annemiller.  This won't affect anything for my current followers.  If you aren't already following me, hop on over and let's connect!

EMAIL:
My email name will be changing to Anne Miller, Photographer instead of Anne Marie Photography.  My new email address is anne@annemillerphotographer.com.  My inbox is always open to you, I love meeting new people and hearing from my friends!

SNAPCHAT- Are you on Snapchat?  Come find me at @annemillerct.  This is where I share behind the scenes of my business and life with you!

After deciding to change my business name to Anne Miller, I began looking for calligraphers to design and hand-script my new logo, knowing I wanted something unique that best represented my style.  I found Sarah Cruz of Love & Lemons Creative on Instagram and instantly fell in love with her beautiful hand-scripted calligraphy work.  She is such a talented artist and was wonderful to work with! You can check out her Etsy store HERE.  I am in LOVE with my new logo and can’t wait for you to see it when I launch my new website!  Great segue into the next big change!

Oh you guys, THIS has been the biggest project of all and I am bouncing off the walls excited to say that it is almost ready to go live!  I call this project my labor of love!

For over two years, yes two years  (sigh)  I have tried to build an online home to better showcase the work I create for my families and to design an updated blog space to write, share, and connect with my trusted community I adore so much.

The challenge became finding the time outside of my full-time job and running my business.  I struggled with how to accomplish this with (1) my time being limited, (2) how to build it, let's be honest I am not a tech-savvy person and, (3) not wanting to rush this important process because my website is how our hearts will connect and that is extremely important to me.  After researching companies to help, I realized hiring a professional branding company wasn't the right move for my business at the time, so I committed to building it on my own. Gulp :)

This fall after Tiffany Farley launched her new website, she wrote about how she built her site on her own and was open to mentoring others on how they can do the same.  I remember sitting in my cubicle at work, staring at her blog post, knowing I was at the point where I needed to reach out and ask for help.

I am used to working closely with people, brainstorming and coming up with new ideas.  Tiffany clearly saw my vision and working with her has been incredible.  I am so thankful for her knowledge, creativity, insight, and advice she has given me throughout this process.  To say I wouldn’t be launching my website without her is an understatement!

NEW online home: annemillerphotographer.com (coming soon)

And do you want to know the best part?

There is a lot to celebrate!  Going full-time, re-branding, launching my new website!  I wouldn't want to celebrate by myself, what fun would that be?!!  I have been looking forward to giving back for so long now and have some simple yet meaningful G I V E A W A Y S planned leading up to my website launch day to say thank you for your support.  So be on the lookout!

I am really excited to introduce the Parenthood Collection this year.  This collection is a series of documenting your family as they grow and evolve.  It is my hope to work with your family and build a lasting relationship with you over time.  This collection is designed to give families the opportunity to celebrate milestones by choosing between two portrait sessions within the year.  Session options could include: Family, Maternity, Newborn, 6 month, 9 month, or First Year portrait sessions.  Please inquire at anne@annemillerphotographer for further details.

Are you still with me friends?  E X H A L E!  I know, it’s a lot of information to digest so let me help recap :)
  • Re-Branding to Anne Miller- you will begin to see these changes on my social media accounts.
  • The Parenthood Collection- New portrait collection designed to document your family as they grow and evolve.  Contact me at anne@annemillerphotographer.com for further details.

Springing Forward | Hartford Connecticut Family Photographer

I know we are all anxiously awaiting the weather to catch up with the season.  The excitement of the warm sun hitting our face is slowly almost becoming our reality and I am most certainly dreaming of sunset family portrait sessions on the beach!

But to be honest, these April showers make me appreciate the sun and warmth even more when it finally does decide to arrive and stick around for a bit.  The change of seasons always acts as a bigger symbol for C H A N G E and the beauty of a fresh start or a chance to see life a little differently.  And who knows, maybe this year I will actually get around to doing some spring cleaning in our house!  Maybe :)

I have been working hard behind the scenes during the winter months on some BIG changes coming to Anne Marie Photography and can’t wait to share it all with you on FRIDAY!  Projects that have been a labor of love and I'm ecstatic to say are finally ready to announce!

But before we jump into what's coming, I have been looking forward to catching up with you on the biggest change of all around here. Whether you have been following me throughout the years or more recently, I truly appreciate you being here and can honestly say that without your constant support, my new reality and dreams wouldn’t be possible.

Today, I write to you for the first time as A FULL-TIME PHOTOGRAPHER!!!

I honestly still can't believe it!  These are words I have been dreaming of someday writing for the past four years and is a life I would think about every morning when I woke up and every night before going to bed.  For me, being able to write these words finally meant arriving at the doorstep of my dreams.

The honest truth is that I have tried to write and share this special news with you many times because I truly couldn't wait to share it but I kept finding myself needing to walk away from my computer every time I sat down to write because my emotions were too raw and I couldn’t get through writing a sentence, ok who am I fooling, more like a single letter, without crying.

Tears of joy for finally getting to this point in my life and career, of gratefulness for being able to choose this life I now get to lead, appreciation for those who believed in me from the very beginning and who have been by my side throughout the years, and all the fleeting emotions of leaving a trusted and loving family of over 13 years who mean the absolute world to me.

Leaving a place like ESPN was difficult.  But I knew in my heart I was finally ready to step back and let it go with confidence, peace, and comfort.  I've seen while growing my business that production and photography are the perfect storm of two creative paths blending together and know my background in television production has prepared me for this life, a life that was intended for me to lead all along.  It is clear that without that there wouldn't be thisGod has shown me this path; He has given me the signs from the start and brought the most incredible people into my life to help me get here today, all deserving of their own blog post!

I enter this new chapter shouting from the rooftops (ok really just our kitchen) and am so excited to devote my full-time attention and care into my business, to dig deeper into the lives of others, to help and serve, and continue to preserve treasured memories for the families I have the privilege to work with.

THIS is the truest of callings.

If there is anything I’ve realized in this short transition, it is that now is the time to let go even more, dream even bigger, and to trust like never before.  I see the world through a different window now and it's exhilarating!  It's a shift of energy, of emotional well-being, and my eyes and heart are open even wider for the beautiful changes that are ahead.  I am blessed to call what I love my full-time job!

can now look forward with a fresh new sense of openness, commitment, and depth to provide an even better experience for others!  It is because of you that I can stand stronger on my own--thank you for all the love you've graciously shown me throughout the years.  Dreams most certainly do come true, if we keep believing, keep pushing, keep going, one step and one day at a time.

Now bring on the warm sun...please!

Moments of 2015 | A Year In Review

There were times I thought 2015 was one big incredible dream that I would eventually wake up from.  But thankfully it was all real, it all happened.  Memories and stories that touched my heart, new meaningful friendships that I am so grateful for.  Moments shared together that put the biggest smiles on my face and joyful tears in my eyes.

I am not one for short and sweet; I admire those who can get their sentiments across in a few sentences. As much as I try, it never seems to work.  This year has taught me that it's ok to be me and not apologize for the way I am, one big sap!

A Family Portrait Collection | Whitinsville, MA

I am slowly winding down from this past year and all the excitement this season brought which has filled my heart with so many wonderful families and a ton of lasting memories, all of which are making this holiday season a lot warmer and bright!

It feels like just yesterday that I was traveling up to Massachusetts on this gorgeous October day to meet this loving family at a local farm on Swans Pond, the most perfect backdrop for their family session.

One of my favorite parts about their session is how it came to be **attention gentleman** if you're reading this, please take note :).  This loving husband wanted to do something special for his wife.  They had talked about getting family photographs taken as their family had quickly grown from three to five in four years and he took matters into his own hands and booked their session!  Such a sweet gift to give his beautiful bride.  I love that they have these images to look back on as their daughters grow older!

Paul and I used to work together and I hadn't seen him in forever and had yet to meet his beautiful wife, Elizabeth and their three adorable daughters, so their portrait session was so special for me to reunite after all these years and to finally meet his family!

Paul and Elizabeth- you two make parenting look easy, balancing all you do, three amazing daughters, ages four, two, and almost one!  You are the kindest of souls, full of grace with the most genuine of hearts.  I adore your love for each other and your incredible girls are a true extension of you both!

Some of my favorite images from their session were the quieter moments they shared with each daughter individually.  The appreciation and love this family has for each other was beautiful to watch.  Towards the end of our session, I was thrilled to get a few images of Paul and Elizabeth together while the girls played in the field.  A perfect fall afternoon that left me overjoyed!

Here are a few of my favorites from their family session.

Let's Get Real | Reflections From The Rising Tide Summit

This week I attended the Rising Tide Summit, a three night online conference hosted by the RisingTide Society, a group created to educate and empower creatives to succeed and join together to honor community over competition.  And man was it amazing and exactly what I needed this week!

All the speakers were incredible, each one leaving their words echoing in my heart, pages and pages of notes scribbled to pour over in the coming weeks and months.  And let me tell you, we dug deep, I mean deep!  Deep into the nitty-gritty of our "WHY" and the purpose behind our work which is everything to me...to serve others and bring JOY to others lives.  This has been such a underlining feeling all year for me, one that I can't exactly explain but is absolutely the reason I've been so motivated to push through.  Annnddd what's better than learning from other creatives who have similar journeys and feeling empowered in the comfort of your home while wearing sweatpants and sipping Yogi tea?

The conversations ranged from branding to marketing to the most heartfelt and authentic talks I've ever heard.  I have been to Women's Leadership Conferences in the past but this was intimate, it was more real than anything I've attended before.  The final night concluded with powerful words from Jenna Kutcher and Kat Schmoyer owner of Dear Sweetheart Events and man, did they bring the online house down! And IT GOT REAL friends.

They spoke openly about their journey and my eyes quickly filled up when the inspirational talk shifted and with all sincerity Kat said to  "I want you to know that you're not alone, I want you to know that the struggles you face are very real and you're doing hard, hard work" GASP.  We are all doing it, in the grind, getting through the day to find rest and getting up the next day to do it all over again. And she is right!  It IS hard.  But my "hard" looks different from your "hard" and yet sometimes all we need to hear every now and then is for someone to tell us that we ARE doing it. GULP.  I'm so grateful to all the amazing speakers and thankful for The Rising Tide Society for cultivating a safe community of creatives who share in the same mission.  To serve others and live out a life of passion and grace, #communityovercompetition.

I keep replaying the impactful words Kat shared during her talk, "there is no such thing as someone who is just an overnight success, there's a story behind everything" I nodded, wiped my tears, and felt proud of my personal story.  I do believe that Everyone Has A Story and I am so interested and invested in my families stories, I believe that your story is such a testament to your success and what you've created.

I've always been inspired by those who took a different path, who opted out of climbing the corporate ladder, always looked at them from afar with a ton of respect and admiration for doing it their way, for choosing a path of happiness over what may have been expected.

I spent my twenties working WAY too much. Sure I traveled and saw new places, all fulfilling experiences and fond memories I am grateful for but all I did was work. I was determined to prove that I cared about my job, because I did, and it didn't matter if that meant working 100+ hours a week with no days off, I was committed.  This was the way it was supposed to be, right?  I was happy, I met amazing people, had incredible experiences.  But it became lonely.  I missed my family, my friends, my love. The first year of marriage was an eye opener as Justin was gone four days a week and I was always working. We would go months without a day off together, barely able to grasp the idea that we were finally married and finally living together, something I had waiting my whole life for.  I missed out on a lot of life and always knew deep down it was not the life I wanted to lead, that WE wanted to lead.

What sealed the deal for me was losing a close family member while I was traveling to Japan for work and my family decided not to tell me until I returned home knowing there was nothing I could do to get home for the services.  I was crushed. I couldn’t pay my respects, mourn the loss of my loved one.  I felt even more alone in my own sorrow that I told myself never again.  I learn a lot from doing.  If I do something once and it doesn’t work, then I commit right then and there to never let it happen again.  And for me, I needed my life to change.

As I started to come up for air when I turned thirty I finally started to clearly see that there was so much more outside of my cubicle, so many lives that I wanted to touch, help, serve and be a part of.  I slowly realized what was lost in all those years of work, of being "too busy", what was lost in all those hours spent pouring my energy and time into something other than myself.  All the time spent trying harder, doing more, and constantly giving my heart to all the wrong areas.  I finally found MY passion, my true calling.

Recognizing that I even had a passion and a gift outside of my job was a life-changing moment.  I was obsessed with documenting my life for my future children, through pictures, saved letters, cards, newspaper clippings.  I was obsessed with telling meaningful stories through my work but never realized that it was my passion, my calling.  I was so "busy" going through the motions and checking things off my expected list that I didn't see my life purpose or understand the bigger picture of my life.  I know now that it was always there but was hidden in the flooded inbox, the daily deadlines, the working around the clock.  But in all of this, there is a ton of gratitude friends, a ton.  I know my path was paved with purpose.  I know that my past was all for a reason and has gotten me to where I am today and for that I am forever grateful.

In honor of the #risingtidechallenge, to live passionately about #LessWorkMoreLife I'm going to take the rest of this weekend off!  Spend it with my darling Justin, decorate the tree, bake my traditional pizzelle cookies, listen to Christmas music, spend time with our niece, and enjoy a weekend off together!  He's been my rock and our life together is what matters most.

I'd love to hear from you.  How are you choosing to live with #LessWorkMoreLife this weekend?  Feel free to comment below or email me at annemariephotographyct@gmail.com to share more about your story.
